Flanders Investment & Trade ( FIT ) is searching for 2 Associates to the Science & Technology Counselor - Americas in the San Francisco Bay Area . As a team, you will be responsible for stimulating strategic technology relationships between the USA and Flanders, the northern region of Belgium. Depending on your background and aspirations, the focus tech domains for this role can include Digital, Bio and/or Cleantech.

The FIT San Francisco Bay office operates integrated in vast network of >10 offices in the Americas. In North America you will be working closely with trade & invest collegues based in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto and New York. Specialist Science & Technology teams are based in New York, San Francisco and ( soon ) Sao Paulo. You will report to the S&T Counselor based in the San Francisco office.

This is a public servant role to the benefit of the United States and the region of Flanders. Flexibility and a service mindset are key. We're looking for an enthusiastic and eager collegue who wants to be part of a focussed team in a high energy environment.

• Respond to industry : email and phone enquiries
• Pro-active information gathering and screening of technology
• Matchmaking on behalf of Flemish companies seeking to export their products and services to the USA
• Desk top research and preparation of cluster studies
• Writing proposals to companies and answering questions about doing business in Flanders
• Coordination with internal and external partners on defined actions under your ownership ( incl admin )
• Mentored by internationally experienced Science & Technology Counselors

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in STEM field , Master or work experience is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluency in English, additional language is a strong plus
• Detail oriented, organized and structured
• Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks and meet deadlines
• Comfortable interacting with ability to quickly forge professional relationships
