Salary: $29+ BOE

General Contractor in Newport News, VA is seeking a Commercial Construction Foreman who is committed to performing and maintaining the quality work standards established by Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc.

Description and Responsibilities:

Perform various tasks as required for General Contractor specializing in industrial construction and renovation. Essential functions include but are not limited to:

• Manage the daily activities of a 3-10 person crew.
• Train employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed.
• Monitor and ensure the proper use of safe working practices and protocols on the jobsite.
• Perform wood and metal framing.
• Install and maintain various types of commercial doors and door hardware.
• Install walls and ceilings with a variety of commercial finishes.
• Install and modify commercial exteriors with a variety of finishes.
• Install blocking and mount equipment, fixtures, and other wall mounted items.
• Communicate efficiently with crews, customers, subcontractors, and supervisors.
• Create, read, and adhere to job schedules.
• Plan job steps and ensure best working practices are utilized to ensure the safety of all crew members.
• Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures.
  

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction crews.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to plan job steps and ensure best working practices are used to ensure the safety of all crew members.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple subcontractors. General knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing are preferred.
• Enthusiastic, professional, and positive attitude.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours.
• Ability to kneel for long periods.
• Ability to utilize heavy equipment such as manlifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
