Job Description

Primary focus is to create a wooden Foundry pattern from an engineered drawing using both power tools and hand tools.

Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:

• Follow direction provided by Floor Supervisor or designee.
• Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
• Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organizations core values.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
• Ability to shape wood with electric and hand tools such as planers, jointers, lathes, and routers.
• Ability to understand different pattern setups and troubleshooting pattern issues.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Participate in 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives as assigned by direct supervisor or designee.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of wood working experience.
• Prior experience reading and understanding blue prints to build a product.
• Prior experience working in a Lean/ISO environment.

Competencies/ Knowledge/Attributes:

• Advanced mathematical skills.
• Prior experience using hand tools to measure products.
• Computer literacy including MS Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Physical Requirements:

This position is typically located in a manufacturing setting and requires standing for long periods of time. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, visual acuity to use a keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both verbal and written communication. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
